ten years is a really long time

Today I was at home making a slow recovery from worst headache in recorded history. It struck around 4 pm yesterday and my head still hurts. So needless to say I used this as an opportune moment to not go to school. Anyway, I was going to get a head start on my spanish essay yesterday (not really) but my headache knocked me out for a few hours so I had to write the whole thing today. It was using the future and it was about what we will be doing in ten year or diez años, however you want to spin it. But then I was thinking in ten year I will be 26! That is so old. Then I realized that ten years ago I was six. I hadn't even read Harry Potter yet (that wouldn't be until that summer). Then it struck me that ten years is a really long time. Like a super long time. Especially for me in my transitional teen years, each year makes a really big difference. Like a 23 year old could totally date a 26 year old and it wouldn't be that weird. But it would be the weirdest thing in the world for  13 year old to date a 16 year old. Ew, that it just really gross. But I guess age means less the older you get. I mean what is the difference between 60 and 70? Maybe you can't bend your knees or something, but honestly not really any difference. At least to me it's not, your knees mean a whole lot more to than to me.
This eventually led to some thoughts about ten years as a decade. As we are entering the second year of our new decade that is the first new decade of our fledgling new century, I was taking a moment to reflect back on our years of 00-09. And so far all I can say is that we all did a really good job of totally messing it up, a lot. But soon enough, I assume, we will forget about our misfortunes (or just generalize them like "the great depression" or "world war II time when there was a lot of people having babies and wearing full skirts that stopped right before their knees" or "hippies") and start to focus on the fashion.
Because of course, if anyone mentions the 60s you think of

you think of twiggy, because she was the only fashionable person in the 60s. actually ever. okay, maybe not.
or when you think of the 80s

you think of this really weird collage thing
It is funny to think in the century that most of us were born in, well anyone reading this who is over 11, has had such significant fashion changes. Let me explain.
The 1900s were the beginning of the end of "The Victorian Era" so everyone was still dressing like this

and not smiling in pictures. but then again if your butcher and bar were in the same building, would you be smiling?
now we skip forward 90 years, which could in fact, be someone's life span and this is what we end up with this:

living in Beverly Hills might have influenced this
When did this all happen? (Around the same time "shower gel" and "body wash" became two different things?) Well, I am just interested in seeing what we will actually be wearing in 10 years. Hopefully it will never return to corsets or denim on denim and that terrible vest.
Cheers,
Cayla
